I use the Jing Method™ of Clinical & Sports Massage (phew that’s a mouthful, from hereon known simply as ‘clinical’ massage) to treat a range of chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions. Clinical massage aims to treat and support clients in reducing and/or freeing them from chronic pain, usually within 1-6 clinical sessions. Conditions supported include:

  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Whiplash
  • Tennis & Golfers elbow
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Knee Injuries
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and/or Repetitive Strain Injury
  • Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction
  • Hip Pain
  • And more!

Jing™ Therapists are trained in a range of safe and effective soft tissue and massage techniques that aim to reduce your pain and increase your movement within 1-6 clinical treatments, using a scientifically proven, yet caring and heart centred approach. This holistic, or ‘whole person’ approach is referred to as the BioPsychoSocial Model of wellness, which looks at you as an individual, not just looking at your pain.

Clinical massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) to create a physiological change or result, providing a therapeutic outcome for those dealing with chronic pain conditions. Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) techniques are also used within the process to help treat underlying causes of chronic pain that involve the central nervous or muscular systems. A Jing™ treatment combines various different massage techniques;

  • Amma, Effleurage, Petrissage & Kneading
  • Muscle Energy Techniques
  • Soft tissue release
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Myofascial release
  • Trigger Point Therapy
  • Acupressure
  • Passive & Active Stretching
  • Application of hot or cold stones

The treatment starts with a consultation about your experience to establish your needs and to assess where and why you need treatment.  Postural assessment and / or range of motion testing may be performed to identify any restrictions or problem areas, along with other orthopaedic testing deemed appropriate.

You may also be given some home-care activities after treatment. These are normally given to promote faster healing and to help rehabilitation. The more invested you are in your recovery, the more positive the outcome.

Clinical Massage is beneficial for everyone, especially in our fast-paced, stress-filled lives. It addresses tension, anxiety, and physical discomfort, forming a supportive role in an optimal health lifestyle, whether you are dealing with tightness from long hours at a desk, recovering from physical or mental strain, managing chronic pain, preparing for a sporting event, or healing post-surgery.

How many appointments will I need?

First appointments are 90 minutes, of which 60 minutes are treatment time. I am here to listen so this gives us plenty of time to discuss your needs, history and lifestyle, along with any concerns you may have. Where appropriate, the consultation will include range of motion assessment and special orthopaedic testing.

For best results in terms of reduction in pain and improvement in quality of life, the Jing™ Method is most effective over a course of up to 6 weekly treatments, however it’s not unusual to feel an improvement quite early on in the process, resulting in lengthening the time between treatments, ultimately working towards a monthly maintenance session.

However you are very welcome to come as frequently, or infrequently, as you need!

If you would like to be supported in finding a reduction in your pain and an improvement in your quality of life, then please drop me a message via the contact page and we’ll arrange a time to chat.

*Due to the disturbingly frequent requests, made over many years, for inappropriate activities, I have made the decision to only accept male clients via referral or recommendation.  Seriously guys, you should be ashamed. This is why we choose the damn bear.
